What is is. ? PT refers to two highly contagious and deadly bacterial diseases (Pullorum disease and Fowl Typhoid) caused by Salmonella bacteria. Because these diseases are severe and can be passed from a mother hen to her chicks through the egg, PT testing is strictly required to keep flocks healthy.
